Our Story

At Westchester Dance Artists, our mission is to educate, elevate, and inspire our students by creating a community of artists of all kinds. We believe that everyone can enjoy the performing arts, and strive to give our students the tools and opportunities they need to pursue their goals in the arts, and in life. Our holistic approach to teaching gives us the opportunity to build a family-like atmosphere full of joy and creativity, while still giving our students a strong technical base. 

 

Westchester Dance Artists is a place for artists of all ages, young and old, to grow and learn in a creative and joyful way. Since the founding of SHPA, our first incarnation, in 2001, it has been a great privilege to share in this profound experience with so many talented individuals, many of whom return to the studio to share their experience and expertise with the next generation of artists. We look forward to continuing this process, and sharing dance with the world, one student at a time.

TarryTown Music Hall Academy collaboration 

We are proud to announce our collaboration with the TarryTown Music Hall Academy!

“The 1885 Music Hall, listed on the National Register for Historic Places, is owned, operated, and loved by The Friends of the Mozartina Musical Arts Conservatory, Inc, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, cultural and educational organization established in 1979. Our mission is three-fold: to present diverse and relevant programming in music, theater, dance, and film for the enrichment of the tri-state community; to promote arts education through classes, partnerships, performing opportunities, and residencies; and to preserve and restore the historic Music Hall so that it may continue to be a vibrant performing arts center and catalyst for sustainable economic development in our area.”

“The organization’s vision is to continue growing as a leading presenter of diverse and relevant programming in the performing arts for the enrichment of the people in the tri-state area; continue expanding its professional music, theater, dance, voice and circus arts education through lessons, classes, residencies, master classes, productions and special events; continue partnering with local nonprofit arts organizations, making additional performances possible; and continue strengthening the local economy through visitor-related spending and tourism.”
