Our Statement of Inclusion

At Sleepy Hollow Performing Artists/Westchester Dance Artists, we strive to elevate and educate our students with work that benefits the social good. We are an inclusive, diverse, and equitable organization who embrace people of different genders, races, religions, ethnic backgrounds, and disciplines. Our commitment to these values is unwavering and evident across our work, as educators, creators, and performers. Having varied perspectives allows us to create better work, and work that identifies and explores the complexities of a changing and increasingly diverse world. These values are central to our mission and to our impact in our community and in the lives of our dancers.

Attendance Policy

At Westchester Dance Artists, we understand that emergencies and schedule changes can happen. However, we ask that parents and students recognize the importance of consistent training and regular rehearsal attendance. This consistency is essential for your child's progress and for maintaining group cohesion. Please note that casting decisions may be influenced by attendance. If an absence is necessary, our staff must be notified via email.

Please be aware that additional rehearsals are required for additional performances and events.

Enrollment

Students must be enrolled in the system in order to attend their first class. We encourage that families register their students by August 25th, two weeks before classes commence, as classes taking place will depend on the number of students officially registered in the system. If WDA does not have at least 4 students registered in the system two weeks before classes begin, WDA reserves the right to cancel the class in question. Therefore, families are encouraged to register officially via this link prior to August 25th. Tuition payments will not be due until 15th of September.

Missed Classes

PERSONAL ABSENSES

Any missed class may be made up within one month of the absence. There will be no refund or credit for any missed class unless it is due to injury. If injuries occur, please contact us directly via email.

WEATHER

If inclement weather should arise, please call the studio and check the website to see is we are open. As with personal classes, if a class is missed or cancelled due to weather, the student may attend an alternate class as a "make up". Westchester Dance Artists follows the Ossining School District class schedule.
CANCELLED CLASSES

If for some reason a majority of students will not be attending class, we reserve the right to cancel class and reschedule at a later date. Each class is ensured 16 full classes during the Fall 2025 Term

Parent & Dancer Etiquette

  • Please ensure your dancer is dropped off and picked up on time. We do not have staff available to supervise students after class. If you are running late for pickup, contact us as soon as possible.

  • All dancers, regardless of age, must wait inside the building for their ride. Parents of younger dancers should come inside to pick them up.

  • Our lobby is a shared space. Please help us keep it clean and quiet by disposing of trash properly and keeping noise to a minimum.

  • Gum and candy are not permitted in the studio. Food and drinks may be allowed at the teacher’s discretion.

  • Hair must be neatly pulled back into a bun or ponytail.

  • Outside shoes must be changed before entering any studio space.

We take our jobs very seriously. We are here to ensure that all of our students, children and adults, receive the very best training we can offer. Please be respectful of our teachers and students, and keep noise to a minimum.
